Decorating questions: Can black leather work with dk. brown couch?
We recently purchased a brown leather/microfiber sctional. We have several natural color bookshelves and a mahogany tv cabinet in the room. The question is, would a dark brown leather ottoman be too much brown? Would a contrast like black be better. I am looking at a black leather ottoman from target. (it also comes in brown). Thanks for any input.

Oh, get the black one!
Black can work with everything, as long as you use it in more than one place in the room. I think the brown would be just what you suspect ... too much brown!
Just be sure to use black here and there in the room ... picture-frames, lamps, a rug ... or as trim on a window-treatment ... something to tie your ottoman to other elements in the room.
Black and brown together can look very sophisticated (and expensive) and would be much more interesting than sticking with the (safer and more predictable) brown ottoman! Good Luck and have fun!
